The Student Activities Office (SAO) has always played a significant role on campus. Early on, the SAO served as the central location for supervising and operating, "social, governmental and special interest group activities." As time passed the overall philosophy of the department's role changed. By 1969 the college was going out of its way to establish student organizations empowered to run themselves as they saw fit. The Student Activities collection features images of extracurricular activities within various college programs and services.
